Save the Children UK’s Festival of Trees
On the 6th December, for the sixteenth year, the Natural History Museum housed some very special creations as part of Save the Children’s Festival of Trees. The museum was transformed into a winter wonderland centred around uniquely designed Christmas Trees designed and donated by companies such as, Harrods, Marks & Spencer, One Aldwych, Osprey, Swarovski and Vodafone.
Over the years the event has become one of the highlights of the winter social calendar and 2005’s sell-out event was no exception welcoming 450 guests. The evening combines a wonderful social occasion with the more serious objective of raising valuable funds, to date over £2.5 million, to support the vital work of Save the Children in the UK and around the world.

After a glittering champagne reception where the Trees were displayed, guests entered the central hall which had been transformed with stunning lighting, beautiful turquoise and white table cloths and inspired table centres featuring silver branches and suspended candles.

Following a sumptuous meal the Sylvia Young Theatre School Juniors performed a wonderful Christmas medley, which had many of the guests tapping their feet, while Jon Culshaw introduced the likes of Tony Blair, HRH The Prince of Wales and George Bush to the room. The climax of the evening, as always, was the auctioning of the Trees raising a phenomenal £221,400, with the Africa Tree smashing the record by going for a staggering £70,000.

Fisher Productions were delighted to be a part of this wonderful event again. Its success comes down to its ability to show guests a great time without losing sight of the importance of the cause it is supporting. Guests enjoy a wonderful evening while their donations benefit the many children supported by the charity. It’s a wonderful example of how such events truly can make a difference to the lives of so many.
