Project Specifications

Building on Terminal 2’s vision, in conjunction with Heathrow, the Fisher team designed and installed a giant vinyl Christmas tree which stood over 90ft high in the covered courtyard to T2. Fisher designers gave the tree a vintage feel, reminiscent of the Christmas trees the Queen would have enjoyed as a child, topped with a replica of her iconic coronation crown.

Fisher worked to add an interactive element to this traditional tree, overlaying it with festoons of lights that could be triggered to flash and dance by passengers who tweeted Christmas greetings to #T2Christmas. After dark the tree came alive with a gentle wash of light which added an enchanting glow to the modern space.

A short lighting ceremony was held and Heathrow’s COO Normand Boivin launched the lights with the first tweet. Hundreds of thousands of passengers enjoyed the tree over the festive period and an advertising campaign ran around the terminal  encouraging passengers to visit the tree and tweet.
